Farm Overview

At Huasna Valley Farm (HVF) we grow dry-farmed grains, fruits, and vegetables, including many heirloom varieties, in San Luis Obispo County and sell mainly through the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model where members prepay for a share of the harvest. We grow without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides or fungicides and use natural and sustainable methods, though we are not certified organic. Locavores and slow food advocates should note that we are one of the only sources of local grain products around. See below for information on current offerings. We also offer an educational apprenticeship/internship program.

2010 Summer Grain and Flour CSA - Starting in July or August we will be accepting sign-ups for a 6 to 10 month Grain and Flour CSA. Monthly deliveries will include wheat berries and freshly milled flour from our Sonora Wheat. This versatile white wheat can be used for breads, pancakes, waffles, cakes, crackers, pasta, boiled wheat berries, wheat grass and more. There may also be small quantities of hulless oats and garbanzo beans available. We plan to service San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande and Santa Barbara but could include more sites if there is interest. We would like to deliver to drop-sites where you are already picking up veggies, so let us know if your CSA is interesting in working together.
